Bill Johnson's "P80 Thunderbird". This model is from a "Dare Profile" kit, has a 50" wingspan, weighs about 6.5 lbs. and is covered with "Monocote". The "Ducted fan" is driven at high rev's. by a tuned pipe K&B 0.45 engine. Tricky to fly and NOT for beginners according to Bill. - Administrator (admin)

Bill Johnson holding his latest creation. This is a McDonnell Douglas MD80 standoff scale model sporting scale Alaska Airlines decals, which Bill had specially made. Converted from a Great Planes "Learjet" kit, Bill made extensive modifications (really!). Monokote covered, 54" wingspan and 6lbs. in weight, retractable gear, the plane is powered by two "Armor All" bottle turbines. (Actually, the real engine is a YS45) - Administrator (admin)
