High speed taxi runs along the runway. Unfortunately our field and runway is not big enough to accomodate such a large model, so we didn't have the pleasure of seeing an actual flight. - Administrator (admin)

Ken Safer with his re-furbished Messerschmitt Bf 109F. This is a completely scratch built one quarter scale model, so the wing span is 98". All up weight is 40 lbs. The model is all wood, cover with fiber glass, sanded and spray painted with "Modelmaster" paint with an authentic scale color scheme. Scale details includes rivets, but Ken hasn't counted how many there are. A scale full body pilot and instrument panel nicely fills the cockpit. The engine is an "in-line" twin cylinder 3W80 with a 4.9 cubic inch displacement. Exhaust gasses are blown out through one of the exhaust stacks. The prop is a "Mezjlik" 24" x 12" and a "Jim Meisner" spinner fits perfectly. A pneumatic air system is used for the retractable gear, including the retractable tail-wheel. A seven channel radio is used and the model has nine servos. More could have been used, but instead some functions are mechanically linked. i.e. the leading edge slats are linked to the flaps and the radiator cooling door. The pictures below are some shots of the engine run-up and taxi runs that Ken conducted at the field. - Administrator (admin)
